Leadership View

For more than 80 years, HCSC has been committed to expanding access to high quality and affordable care across the communities we serve through our products and services as well as robust clinical programs that better health outcomes.

We have continued our Blue Door Neighborhood Center programming providing access to free health screenings and wellness classes and opened our first fully bilingual customer service center in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood to strengthen our multilingual customer service capabilities, allowing for end-to-end communication in the preferred language of our members. We also launched a new maternal and infant health initiative that expands support for mothers before and after childbirth to help overcome barriers to care and to improve health outcomes for new moms and babies.

Building on this commitment are additional investments and partnerships that address the social and economic factors that drive health and wellness.

In 2023, HCSC provided more than $29 million in grants and sponsorships to community organizations to address social determinants of health. As a result, we helped give adults with developmental disabilities in North Texas support to reach their higher education goals, children in Oklahoma access to nourishing meals, under-resourced Latina immigrants in New Mexico

the upskilling needed to meet gaps in senior home health care work, individuals with behavioral health challenges in Illinois the support required to lead meaningful lives, and mothers in rural Montana greater access to pediatric care.

HCSC employees are amplifying our efforts. In 2023, HCSC employees volunteered over 120,000 hours with approximately 2,300 organizations.

Thank you for reading the 2023 Corporate Social Responsibility Report. These pages reflect our steadfast commitment to support all our communities.
