HCSC Awards Nearly $10M to Build Stronger, Healthier Communities

CHICAGOHealth Care Service Corporation is investing nearly $10 million in more than 315 nonprofits through its 2026 Major Grant program, supporting efforts to expand access to quality care, address social determinants of health and improve health outcomes in communities across its health plan states in Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

Through its Major Grant program, HCSC continues to make targeted investments that strengthen community organizations and help expand the reach of programs addressing critical health and social needs.

"Meaningful change happens when organizations come together around a shared purpose," said Clarita Santos, HCSC’s vice president of community solutions. "Our community partners play a critical role in addressing the needs of the people they serve, and we're proud to support the work they do to expand opportunities and access to resources that help their communities."

The grants align with HCSC’s core community focus areas:

  • Economic Opportunity and Stability: Addressing employment barriers, supporting workforce development and advancing paths to financial stability.
  • Nutrition: Supporting efforts to decrease hunger and increase access to healthy, nutritious food.
  • Neighborhood and Local Assets: Supporting safe, stable housing, transportation access and opportunities for physical activity.
  • Locally Defined Health Solutions: Responding to unique, community-driven health and human service needs.
  • Optimal Health Outcomes: Closing care gaps across key priorities, including immunizations, diabetes care, cardiovascular health, behavioral health, early cancer detection and maternal and infant health.
