CHICAGO — Health Care Service Corporation, the nation’s largest customer-owned health insurer, is investing more than $9 million to non-profit community organizations through its 2025 Major Grant program. The grants will support community partners that align with HCSC’s mission of expanding access to high-quality care and building healthier communities in its health plan states in Illinois, Montana, New Mexico Oklahoma and Texas.
“We believe, together we can make a greater impact and help build stronger, healthier communities,” said Clarita Santos, Executive Director of Corporate and Civic Partnerships at HCSC. “Collaborating with our community partners amplifies the resources and expertise needed to continue our efforts in creating positive health and wellness solutions, with lasting results.”
HCSC’s Major Grants were developed in alignment to support its community focus areas that address health-related social needs:
- Economic Opportunity and Stability: Addressing issues such as poverty, removing barriers to employment, providing good jobs and upskilling.
- Nutrition: Supporting efforts to decrease hunger and increase access to nutritious food.
- Neighborhood and Local Assets: Focusing on affordable healthy housing, access to transportation and access to physical activity.
- Locally Defined Health Solutions: Addressing hyperlocal health and human service needs.
- Optimal Health Outcomes: Helping close gaps in care, specifically around six priority areas: Immunizations; diabetes care; cardiovascular care; behavioral health; early detection cancer screening and maternal and infant health.
