HCSC Earns Global Recognition as a Top Place to Work in IT

Health Care Service Corporation has again earned global recognition for its success in creating a top place to work for technology professionals.

Computerworld has named HCSC one of its Best Places to Work in IT for 2026, its sixth time on the list in seven years.

“Earning this recognition consistently in recent years is testament to our culture, growth, career development and training, and overall level of employee engagement within IT,” says HCSC Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer Scott Morgan. “It means HCSC is seen not only as an industry leader in the health insurance space, but as a destination for top technology professionals to thrive.”

Now in its 32nd year, the award ranks companies on practices and policies that cultivate a welcoming IT workplace. A panel of industry experts scored organizations across multiple categories, including employee benefits, talent retention, career development and advancement opportunities, among other areas.

HCSC ranked No. 29 among large corporations (5,000+ employees) on the Best Places to Work in IT list.

A highlight of this year’s recognition is the IT team’s new delivery platform that utilizes artificial intelligence to help IT employees automate steps specific to their roles. HCSC’s approach is to leverage AI to augment human decision-making, not replace it, and to help bolster productivity.

“At HCSC, we put people first, empowering teams to harness AI to simplify collaboration and remove dependencies. What takes 20 steps today will take just three, enabling faster solutions and greater impact,” says Mach Lakshmanan, vice president of product engineering.

HCSC’s community-focused culture is another factor that makes it recognized as a great place to work for IT professionals.

For example, when looking for future employees, HCSC extends its search to include individuals representative of the communities they serve. That includes an apprenticeship program that recruits employees from underserved areas and a customer service center in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood centered on multilingual capabilities to better help members who are non-native English speakers. The Pilsen location also serves as a digital delivery center where select members of IT focus on strengthening HCSC’s digital capabilities.

“Leveraging artificial intelligence, cybersecurity tools, and other emerging technology solutions to protect and assist members, providers and employees will continue to make HCSC an attractive destination for IT professionals,” Morgan says.

“As the health care industry evolves, the need for best-in-class technology has never been more apparent,” he adds. “Our team embraces the challenge of delivering reliable, stable and innovative solutions that drive value for our members.”
