HCSC Opens Bigger Service Center and Adds Jobs in Central Illinois

Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) unveiled a bright and modern 50,000-square-foot service center in the central Illinois city of Mattoon with a ribbon-cutting ceremony June 9.

The new building features a state-of-the-art HVAC system, extensive natural light and a large break area leading to a covered patio. It has room for more than 300 employees.

"Look at this beautiful building — you couldn't ask for a better place to work," Mattoon Mayor Rick Hall said. The ribbon-cutting was followed by a job fair to help fill 75 new positions.

The company opened its first location in Mattoon 36 years ago with about 25 employees. Their number has grown to more than 200, and last year they served more than 1.8 million members of HCSC’s health plans in Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

“Today's celebration is not just about this building,” said Illinois Plan President Steve Hamman. “It's about what this building can create, for our employees, their families and the local economy."

Hamman presented $5,000 donations to Catholic Charities, the Salvation Army, Mattoon Community Food Center and The Haven, an emergency shelter.

"I look forward to continuing our work together toward our common goal — improving the lives in our communities, especially now when it’s needed most," Hamman said.
