Paid Time Off (PTO)
HCSC offers a generous Paid Time Off policy. PTO is earned based on length of service, job level and part time/full time status.
Health Care Service Corporation offers paid holidays as well as Diversity Day(s). Typical holidays off include; New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Day after Thanksgiving and a Christmas holiday (details are announced each year).
Medical and Dental Coverage
Medical benefits are provided to all eligible employees at a competitive cost. HCSC offers employees the choice of PPO plans, Consumer-directed Health Plans (BlueEdge plans) and HMO plans (available in some areas).
A basic PPO dental program and a PPO enhanced dental program (which includes orthodontic coverage)
Coverage is effective on the first day of the month following date of hire.
Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D)*
HCSC offers company-paid life insurance and AD&D coverage. Coverage is equal to one times annual salary, which goes into effect on date of hire. Additional voluntary life and AD&D coverage are available at the employee's cost.
* Legal spouse (including common-law spouse in Montana, Oklahoma and Texas), domestic partner and civil union partner (Illinois only) are eligible for enrollment in the Medical Dental & Life Insurance coverage.
Most employees are immediately eligible to enroll in the company’s 401(k) Plan and may choose to make before-tax contributions of 1to 75 percent of each paycheck. (This is subject to IRS limits and other plan limits.) The company matches the first one percent of employee contributions dollar for dollar. The next five percent is matched with 50 cents on the dollar. Participants become fully vested in the employer matching contributions after two years of eligible service.
The HCSC pension plan is a cash balance retirement plan that is completely funded by the company. It is designed to provide a benefit that increases with pay and interest credits throughout employment. Employees become a member of the plan after one year of eligible service, and become fully vested after three years of eligible service.
Total Rewards Bonus Program
HCSC's contingent compensation and gainsharing programs are designed to reward individual and team contributions that achieve important corporate, divisional, departmental and individual objectives. This is an incentive plan designed to reward all active eligible employees for the success of the corporation in meeting its financial stability and controlled growth goals. The total rewards program is awarded annually and is in addition to base salary.
Dependent Life Coverage
Several levels of dependent life coverage are available for employees who are either married and/or have children.
Short-Term Disability Program
HCSC offers a company-paid short-term disability (STD) plan. Benefits are 60 percent of an employee’s base salary for employees with less than five years of current service with the company. The employee is required to satisfy a waiting period of 14 consecutive calendar days before STD benefits begin.
Long-Term Disability Program
HCSC offers a company-paid long-term disability plan. Long-term disability is available first of the month following six months of employment for non-exempt employees and date of hire for full-time exempt employees.
All full-time, regular HCSC employees are eligible for up to $5,250 in tuition reimbursement per calendar year. The full amount may be applied to degree programs. Up to $2,000 of this money may be used for courses or programs used to maintain licenses or for certificate programs from accredited institutions or professional associations. Benefits begin on the effective date of hire.
Flexible Spending Accounts
Employees may set aside, through payroll deduction, pre-tax dollars which canthen be used to pay IRS-eligible health care or dependent care expenses.
Transportation Reimbursement Account
Employees may set aside, through payroll deduction, pre-tax funds to use during the year to cover transit and/or parking expenses.
Group Legal Service
This benefit provides telephone legal consultation, in-office legal services, for those enrolled in the program.
Employee Assistance Program
Confidential counseling is provided to all employees 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
HCSC covers up to $2,500 in eligible expenses for finalized adoptions (limited to two per calendar year) for full-time and eligible part-time employees.
Direct Deposit Service
All employees are paid biweekly. Paychecks are distributed every other Friday. You may have your pay directly deposited into your bank account if you provide advance written authorization to the payroll department. You will receive an itemized statement of earnings for direct deposits.
Wellness Program (Motiva)
HCSC promotes wellness programs to help you develop a healthier lifestyle. Because good health is good business, the company supports improving the quality of life for its employees by providing programs such as:
- Access to our onsite fitness centers at headquarters or our fitness program network
- Periodic health screenings such as blood pressure, triglycerides, blood glucose, cholesterol, body composition, etc.
- Annual health and well-being fairs at corporate offices, which are designed to give employees access to professionals from local, state and national organization
- Walking maps for most sites
- Educational campaigns that give employees in all locations an opportunity to manage weight, eat healthy and learn skills to improve your health and overall well-being.
The corporate Intranet site and myMotiva email system provides meaningful content to keep you updated on wellness information, events and activities.
Up to four days of bereavement leave is provided to employees on the date of hire for a death in the immediate family.
Employee Referral Program
We recognize that employees are HCSC's greatest asset. Several departments have employee referral programs to reward individuals who successfully refer employees to our organization. The reward amount ranges from $1,000-$5,000, which varies from each participating department. HCSC also provides a $250 bonus for Billingual (Spanish speaking) referrals and Military Veteran referrals.
A full service café and catering services are available in the Richardson and Chicago headquarter buildings. Café’s feature restaurant quality foods with a focus on wellness. In addition, Chicago headquarters has vending throughout the building and Richardson headquarters provides Healthy Markets, an upscale alternative to vending.
Credit Union membership is available to all employees. Payroll deduction is available for both savings and loan payments. The Credit Union also offers checking accounts, direct deposit and ATM cards.
Some positions in select areas are eligible for a flex-time schedule. Employees have the option of working flexible hours between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, with their manager's approval.
Most HCSC office locations have free parking or shuttle service available for employees. The Chicago headquarters office provides group discounted parking at the Lakeside and Millennium Park Garages.
