Health Care Policy Perspectives

As the largest customer-owned health insurance company in the United States, Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC) often brings a unique perspective to public policy discussions on health care issues. In all we do, our primary focus is on our customers. Our decisions involve first asking the question: “Is this good for our customers?” So, too, we must view health care policy issues from the perspective of how they affect our customers, our communities and society as a whole.  From time to time, we will share our perspective on some of these issues below:


Focus on the Uninsured
HCSC is committed to reducing the number of uninsured in each of the states served by its Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans by 2010. While the specific approaches are tailored to the local situation, we have established general principals for addressing the challenge and judging proposed solutions for the uninsured issue.
